myGamePicks has been running for since 2001. I started this site as a way to learn new programming techniques, much easier to do when you have a project to complete. I wanted a project that would be used that I could get feedback from the users of the site.

I am not a big football follower but I have many friends that are. So a football pool is a great fit for learning as it is active used every year.

This iteration of the site is my third rewrite. The site was origionally written using Microsoft asp pages with a jBase database back end. Next I rewrote the site using .net C#, to get a handle on using asp.NET, and the jBase database. Now I am writing the site from the ground up using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition, C# and MS SQL Express 2005.
